Isn’t it remarkable how strong absence can be? It’s completely amazing yet devastating and beyond words how a mere space and emptiness could strike emotions stronger and more pronounced than anything concrete. It’s perplexing how the lack of something could have a greater effect than the presence of another.

A call that won’t come; a greeting that wouldn’t be heard; a smile that wouldn’t be seen; a made bed untouched; a rectangular spot lighter in color than the rest of the wall, the shadow left behind by the photo that used to hang there. A vacant chair.
