For you, dear one.

From the beginning
We are favored, we are blessed
With a land so rich, so vast and diverse
A land that drives foreign or native obsess

The beauty it possess
Is beyond compare
But then things are slowly changing
Desires gradually upgrading

A fractured earth, relations sore
A greed that creeps up from our soul,
A greed that breaks our natural core
And the waves are turning on the shore

Glutonous rage,
We lust for more
Now the waves
Consists of monsters on the shore

We became captives
We are trapped and incarcerated
Within the desire to continuously grow
Within the advancements that keeps everyone in awe

The sands of time have rendered fear
Blue skies up above no longer clear
Stars were bright whence they came
Now dimmed, obscured, pollution’s haze

Crystal clear, our waters gleamed
Fish abundant, rivers streamed
Ocean floors, sandy white
Now littered, brown, pollution’s plight

When are we going to act?
Is it when nothing else remains intact?
When nothing is left for us?
Or when it is too late to fuss?

Please, let us plant a better seed
Tear out old roots, cultivate, weed
Before despair creeps all the way up and cover us all
Because the truth is, we only reap what we’ve sown

Please, oh dear one, please
Help us protect what has been given for free
Protect the beauty that’s left to see
Our waters, skies, the wildlife and tree

Consider this a warning
A blaze firing
Let’s act now and start a change
Use your power to influence a blast of range

It’s never too late to take a step
All together, let us leap and pay our debt
Hand in hand, let us stand
And believe that there is hope for our land.
