Last year, during my 20th birthday, I wrote down the 20 things I have learned in my 20 years of existence. This year, I will be sharing the top 21 bible verses that I hold on to every time I feel lost, weary, down, demotivated, bitter and the like. These bible verses help motivate and heal me.
1. Jeremiah 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
2. Isaiah 40:31
“Even the youth grow tired and weary but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
3. Isaiah 43:2
“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”
4. John 14:1-4
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”
5. Hebrews 11:1
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
6. Joshua 1:9
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
7. Matthew 11:25-30
“At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
8. Psalm 27:1-3
“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour[a] me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.”
9. 2 Corinthians 12:9
“But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
10. John 16:33
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
11. Proverbs 16:3
“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”
12. Romans 8:28
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
13. Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
14. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18
“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
15. Proverbs 16:3
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
16. James 1:2-4
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
17. Deuteronomy 31:6
“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
18. 1 Corinthians 15:58
“Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”
19. Joshua 1:7
“Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
20. Psalm 91:1-2
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.”
21. Ephesians 4:31-32
“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
I keep my bible with me every time and make sure that I get to read it everyday even for a few minutes only. I also have my devotion app which notifies me every 6:30 am and 8:30 pm for my daily devotion. This helps me stay refreshed and renewed in spite of the stress that I am experiencing.
Every time I feel like I don’t understand what is happening or when I am in doubt of what I am currently experiencing, I always remind myself that He knows the plans that He has in store for us. We just have to keep the faith. Even though whatever trial or challenge we may face, we must keep in mind that we are not facing it alone and that He will never give us something that we couldn’t handle. Thus, we shall not lose hope, because He always got our back.
I also strongly believe that we should not hold any grudges to the people who may have treated us wrongly. We must free our hearts from anger, bitterness and range because it will not help us in anyway. At the end of the day, if we fill our hearts with anger and bitterness, it is us who will feel burdened, that is why we must instead be kind and compassionate to everyone. Also, we never know what someone is experiencing at the moment so we have to be more understanding of the attitude of the people around us since we are all fighting our own battles.
This is quite a lengthy post but I hope this may somehow help you guys. If you need any advice or help (except for something monetary related) you can always send me an e-mail or message me on any of my social media. I am always willing to listen and help as long as I can.
